Vinyl & Plastic:

Original Plasticoat and Thickened Plasticoat inhibit color fading, protect, and rejuvenate plastic and vinyl surfaces.  Recommended uses include, but are not limited to: car and boat interiors, motor cycle seats, indoor and outdoor furniture, Venetian blinds, vinyl siding, etc.  When applied to new surfaces, these products protect against the degrading, UV-induced effects of bleaching and weathering, which transforms an otherwise vibrant and lustrous surface to a dull or even 'chalky' appearance.  When applied to new surfaces, these products often enhance the color and luster.  On older surfaces, they will partially or even fully restore weathered and bleached items to their original color and luster.  The extent to which a surface is restored will depend on its condition at the time it is treated.

G-Plasticoat will not crack, chip, peel, or yellow, and will protect the surface on which it is applied from cracking as well.  Consequently, if the coating itself begins to wear thin, as evidenced by a loss of luster and/or renewed color fading, a fresh coat may be applied to the cleaned surface with no additional surface preparation.  G-Plasticoat prevents plastic and vinyl from drying out and cracking by effectively 'sealing in' the plasticizers, which keeps them from migrating to the surface and either evaporating or wearing off.

Car dashboards are particularly susceptible to cracking.  However, discretion is advised when considering this application because both Original Plasticoat and Thickened Plasticoat will make the surface shinier, which in turn will increase surface glare from the sun.  Applying one coat instead of two may produce a more desirable result.  On items where surface wear is expected, such as car or motorcycle seats, these products will wear instead of the substrate, thus extending the life of the substrate.  Periodic inspection of treated areas on high surface wear items is recommended.  Places where the coating appears to be wearing thin, as evidenced by a loss of luster and/or renewed color fading should be recoated.

Two coats are recommended for these applications.  Residual chalky particulate on the substrate should be wiped off prior to application.  Thickened Plasticoat is recommended on newer smooth-textured plastics, on which Original Plasticoat may not wet evenly.  Original Plasticoat is better suited for use on courser-textured substrates, and for the rejuvenating of older, worn surfaces.  Original Plasticoat offers greater surface area coverage, faster application, and a shorter curing time.  Thickened Plasticoat produces a thicker final film.
