G-Plasticoat products have many uses in the bathroom.  They prevent mold and mildew growth.  They may be applied to the insides of cabinetry to protect from accidental spilling of cleaning solutions, cosmetics, personal hygiene products, etc.  They may be used on cabinets and walls around toilets to inhibit stains, water damage, and rust spots caused by splashing.

Maintenance and repair due to mold and mildew is often costly and time consuming.  G-Plasticoat is a mold and mildew inhibitor.  It is not designed to eliminate existing mold and mildew problems.  A separate cleaning step must be performed first.  Also, when applied to a surface with an existing problem, it will inhibit additional mold or mildew growth.  It is recommended on most surfaces where mold and mildew grows, including but not limited to: walls & ceilings, caulking & grout, showers & bath tubs, shower curtains, cabinetry, etc.  Use an appropriate cleanser on existing mold and mildew problems, rinse thoroughly, and wipe dry before applying.  Contact our main office for information on how to deal with mold removal.

Stains and surface damage are very common occurrences on the insides and outsides of cabinetry.  Solvents, and harsh chemicals in toiletries, cosmetics, and cleaning products can cause permanent damage.  Spills on surfaces made of particleboard and veneer often seep through the veneer, causing a permanent 'bubble' or 'ripple' texture.  G-Plasticoat resists penetration, and is not affected by most solvents and chemicals, and the coloring agents in cosmetic products.

At least two coats are recommended for these applications.  Thickened Plasticoat may be used on smooth and textured, porous and non-porous surfaces.  Original Plasticoat is not recommended on smooth, non-porous substrates such as certain types of glazed tiles, because it may not wet evenly, so will not form a smooth, continuous final film.  Original Plasticoat offers better surface area coverage, quicker application, and a shorter curing time.  Thickened Plasticoat offers a thicker final film.

Surfaces treated with G-Plasticoat should be cleaned with a damp cloth or sponge.  Persistent stains should be cleaned with a mild detergent and water.  Avoid abrasive cleaners, or solvents such as rubbing alcohol.  Original Plasticoat and Thickened Plasticoat usually cure to a shiny final finish.  Before applying to painted walls, wallpaper, or painted cabinetry, prepare a small, inconspicuous test site to assure desired results.
